The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is a regional examination board that
conducts examinations in English-speaking West African countries. WAEC
administers the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which
is the primary examination taken by students at the end of their secondary education.
The WASSCE assesses candidates’ academic achievements and readiness for higher
education or the workforce. It covers a wide range of subjects, including
mathematics, English language, sciences, humanities, and vocational subjects. The
results of the WASSCE are used for admission to universities and other tertiary
institutions, as well as for employment purposes.
