General Certificate of Education

GCE (General Certificate of Education) is an internationally recognized qualification
taken by students in English-speaking countries. WAEC (West African Examinations
Council) administers the GCE in West Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone,
The Gambia, and Liberia. The GCE/WAEC examination assesses the academic
achievements of students at the secondary school level. It consists of two levels: the
Ordinary Level (O-Level) and the Advanced Level (A-Level). O-Level is typically taken
at the end of secondary education and serves as a prerequisite for higher education
or employment. A-Level is an advanced qualification taken for admission to
universities or other tertiary institutions.
